John Quincy Adams is elected to Congress.

Adams (Nat. Rep.) is elected from the Plymouth District, winning 1,817 of 2,545 votes. The first former president to return to Congress, Adams subsequently declares, “My election as President of the United States was not half so gratifying to my inmost soul. No election or appointment conferred upon me ever gave me so much pleasure.” Adams is reelected in 1834.
